Hello wonderful blog readers.

I wanted to write a post about updates on what I’ve been doing, since I haven’t really been vocal about that recently. Some of you may remember that I had said I would have space opera stories out…already. Unfortunately, I think the goal was just too ambitious. As I was writing them, I found I wasn’t happy with what I was producing, and I wanted more time to build out the world and generate more compelling characters. With that work on the back burner, I’ve reverted back to working on a past project.

I will be returning to work on Nine Tails. For those of you who don’t know, this is a novel that I’ve been working with on and off for several years. I set it aside last year because I felt stuck, and I wanted to try and work on other projects. After those projects didn’t end up going as smoothly as I planned, I returned to working on the Nine Tails outline a few weeks ago and found that I plotted it out pretty smoothly. I managed to find solutions to the issues I felt were plaguing the story, and now I have it in a place where I’m ready to write the closing drafts of it.

I’ve also expanded the story into a series. I’m projecting that it will be a trilogy of novels (though it may end up being four books) with some short story supplements. I’m going to be finishing up a draft of the first book in April, and I will be self-publishing that later this year. Depending on how that goes, I may have the second book out before the end of the year (that’s my hope), but this is the first thing that I’ve ever aimed to self-publish, and I’m not sure how long the process will take, so I don’t want to make promises I can’t keep. Again.

If you would like to learn more about Nine Tails, you can check out the page I created for it on my website. I will be writing more blog posts detailing my progress as I make headway with it. I will also be posting some articles about Korean mythology and the specific stories and creatures that inspired me leading up to the novel’s publication.

In the meantime, you can expect more posts on writing advice and the occasional errant post about TV or something else. I’ve also been starting to edit some short stories that I’ve written but haven’t published, so hopefully some of those will find a home in various publications. If so, I’ll share that as well.
